On the surface, sure, everything's all hunky dory. I was hopeful that maybe this health crisis pandemic would change how Americans are treated. But now I am angry and sad to report that the same OLD bogus nonsense is still going on no matter that half a million Americans lives are more at stake than ever. (Not to mention the loss of 100-200,000 American lives that our fearless leader in the White House thinks is just fine for him to win re-election on). Crimes Against Humanity. A Governor in Ohio is going to The Hague to report him).
Mayors, governors, city council members, heads of agencies say they are putting people without homes into motels but for the most part they are lying. They like to pat themselves on the back and tout ALL they are doing (to grab YOUR money) but for the most part it is just a con. There may be a few agencies here and there who ARE actually helping. I’ve highlighted those in another story about New Orleans, Oakland, CA and Connecticut stepping UP.
But here are quite a few examples that what the majority are doing is beyond counterproductive. It is DANGEROUS. They pretend that they are saving lives but beyond the PR, there are quite a few women without homes who beg to differ, me, my friend Josie 74, Amber and her mom, Stephanie, Deborah, and 1,000+ women in Monterey, CA and hundreds of thousands in many in other cities in California. That is just California, one of the so-called liberal blue states.
If you donate to any of these people, you are paying people who profit from and are putting people’s lives at stake. People without homes are living in dangerous situations, on the streets, in cars, and homeless shelters. And these people who are supposed to help them, ARE STEALING YOUR MONEY.
These people are formerly middle class women, for the most part, who lost a job, left their home due to domestic violence (50% of women without homes), got evicted because they could no longer pay skyrocketing rents, and more. A minority may have become drug addicts, mentally DISTRESSED or alcoholics due to the horrendous stress and strain of trying to survive without a home in the USA.
Gathering for women took $3 MILLION donated dollars spent it to build an unnecessary building to HOUSE NO ONE leaving 1,000+ women without homes in the lurch so that 7 women could get salaries. Did they hire anyone without a home? No. Did they hire anyone who ever had been without a home? No. Their last Executive Director resigned when people found out that she had stolen money from her former job.
This is what they are doing now:
Tell women to stay away.
We recognize that our Day Center is a life-line for our guests but now it is CLOSED. (They do NOT have a lot of room/space for women to Gather, not anywhere comfortable to seniors (like my friend Josie) to elevate her legs, just crappy chairs.
Do they offer women masks, hand sanitizers or anything useful during this time? NO.
People donate money to these organizations think that they are donating to help actually HOUSE women. They are being scammed out of money that could BE USED TO actually HOUSE women.
Homeless shelters are NOT safe for women, children and American taxpayers pay three times MORE to NOT house people.
These bogus agencies that are SUPPOSED to be helping HOUSE women only feed them donated food and once a month give out gas vouchers that last a couple of days.
Funds for homeless women is another one. I have been asking for years where does their money go and do they give funds to women without homes. No response. They fund other agencies like the gathering. I went to them a couple of times and left hysterically crying. I was desperate for help and they gave me NONE. I spent two hours on the phone with the head honcho, a pastor. He kept asking me what do women want. I kept saying housing. He kept asking and I kept answering. Then he told me that a lot of the women have dogs as if that was a bad thing. Here, where people donate MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to house DOGS and have built shrines for DOGS. (I LOVE DOGS, don’t get me wrong and miss my sweet Cicibug more than ever now. She went over the Rainbow seven months ago). I told him that this was because women without homes need Protection, Companionship and the comfort of unconditional Love from their Best Friends who don’t judge or ban them like humans do. They have LOST EVERYTHING NEAR AND DEAR TO THEM.
His agency gave me not one night in a motel room, no gas voucher or comfort. A kind stranger on the street helped me. For the most part angels, kind Good Samaritans are the ones who helped me the most when I was in dire straits in my 60’s and 70 without a home. I have only been housed now for three months and am still quite ill.
There is no federal funding available for programs supporting unaccompanied homeless women.
The Fund for Homeless Women gives PROGRAM SUPPORT to agencies like the gathering on the Monterey Bay Peninsula.
They DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO WOMEN WITHOUT HOMES, DO NOT PROVIDE HOUSING FOR WOMEN WITHOUT HOMES, THEY ONLY FUND OTHER BOGUS AGENCIES WHO DO NOT PROVIDE HOUSING FOR WOMEN WITHOUT HOMES.
The churches, when they are open, tell women to go to the Gathering or Funds for Homeless Women so 1,000+ are left OUT in the COLD, rain, on streets, in cars.
Here is one recent email from my friend Josie, 74, sleeping in her car for a year now.
“I am in the same situation and people are mean out there at the stores . The prices if there's water are so high. Used to get 36 bottles for $3.49, now 24 for $7.99 at one store!!. It's like a ghost town out there. Hardly or very little traffic in the streets. Everything is closed. I too have no money till next month. Salvation Army is closed, questionable about opening n giving out gas card this Thursday.
“I've been parking in my car at where I park away from people. Been waiting for my lawyer to get back to me too but no return call.
“Was informed by social worker for Starfish yesterday that can't come to park at the church till 7 pm (7am-7pm) even though I was coming 5pm and leave 5:30 am. Where are we supposed to be till then? Everything is closed, library, stores etc. I'm just waiting for Gathering to close their doors. I don't go there that often. It's crazy out there.”
Now she has been unable to BE anywhere for the last two weeks. She has been able to stay in the parking lot at the church all day and all night in her car, in the pouring rain with her dog but she does not know for how long she will be able to do that.
In San Francisco, the travesty continues worse than ever.
“File under: really not a good way to prevent spread of infectious disease. This is horrible no matter how you slice it, but at the very least don't put the cots head to head.” (From ER Dr. Kelly Doran, NYC).
Gotta love this ER doctor, “Let whoever thinks this is a good idea volunteer to live there themselves. I’ll wait. #homelessness#COVID19. And Dean Preston: let’s be very clear here, the Mayor's plan is to move healthy homeless people from shelters to this, instead of to hotel rooms. Find me one public health professional who thinks that is a good idea.
This is as bad as the City of Las Vegas putting people without homes in parking lots with the excuse that a 500 bed shelter was closed. They have a tremendous number of EMPTY HOTEL ROOMS, but hey homeless people are just trash to be thrown away, right. What happens when the temperatures in Las Vegas soar to 90-100+ degrees? And where are people supposed to BE ALL DAY?
Back to the debacle in San Francisco:
“…Hundreds of advocates have been desperately contacting Mayor London Breed imploring her to place homeless people in hotel rooms and vacant units, it seems she has her own plan for addressing poverty during the pandemic: opening indoor camps to further concentrate vulnerable people. The Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco opened its doors
“These beds are not available to anyone currently sleeping outside. Instead, homeless San Franciscans will be moved out of smaller local shelters and into these massive congregate shelters, where hundreds of people, the majority of whom already have disabilities or chronic illnesses, will sleep on mats on the floor exactly six feet from each other.
“Right now there are 390 mats in the Moscone Center that they plan to fill with homeless people. An inside source who asked to remain anonymous reported that there are currently no hand-washing stations, bathrooms facilities are shared and limited, staff don’t have Narcan and there are no sharps containers. Folks coming in are not allowed to bring any property with them and are told they must leave all their belongings at their shelters. Mats on the floor are sectioned off with masking tape.
“While the city blasts out alerts urging housed San Franciscans to stay home and practice social distancing, homeless people should have the ability to do the same. Mayor London Breed and Health Officer Tomás Aragón of the Department of Public Health both have emergency powers that allow them to commandeer hotel rooms and other vacant units at any reasonable price in order to offer emergency housing to those who need it. With more then 30,000 vacant hotel rooms across the city, only a few hundred have been made available to a small handful that meet the stringent
“Homeless people should have the ability to follow the city’s own DPH guidelines and stay at home to stay safe from the virus. And yet the director of San Francisco’s Human Services Agency Trent Rhorer wrote in an email to the Street Sheet that “there is no medical need to isolate this population in hotel rooms” and that offering the ability for homeless individuals to follow the city’s health guidelines is not “fiscally prudent”. As it stands San Francisco will only be offering hotel rooms to homeless people who test positive for COVID-19 or who have been tested and are awaiting results, or to those over 60 or with health conditions whom the city deems capable of “self care”.
“Everyone else will be herded into these mass “shelters” or left in the streets.
“Emergency Operations Center Director Rhorer stated April 1, 2020 that they will prioritize unhoused people meeting the definition of medically vulnerable and living on streets, in shelters or in residential hotels for hotel rooms, but none in this situation have been placed to date.
“…another woman showed up to the Moscone Center after being hospitalized due to possible exposure to COVID-19. She was given a test and then moved to a hotel to await her results. That hotel was then evacuated due to sewage problems, so residents were bounced to a second hotel that was infested with bedbugs. But once her test came back negative she had lost her bed at her shelter, and had nowhere to go and no belongings. Staff at the Moscone Center called dozens of places trying to find her a bed in a shelter before eventually making an exception and placing her there on a mat.
“The city is totally desperate and they don’t know what they’re doing,” the source told Street Sheet over the phone. “None of the supervisors have visited the site. The Mayor came to give a press conference but she was across the street and never stepped foot inside.”
“To leave hundreds of people in mass congregate shelters could be a death sentence for many of our vulnerable neighbors. A recent study found infected homeless individuals would be twice as likely to be hospitalized, two to four times as likely to require critical care, and two to three times as likely to die if they contract COVID19. With hotel rooms and Air BnB units sitting vacant all over the city, San Francisco has to do better than this. We have to do better.'“
#COVID19#homelessness#SanFrancisco
House every single homeless person in a vacant unit now.
San Francisco currently has 30,000 vacant units and 42,000 empty hotel rooms while 18,000 homeless people who are disproportionately elderly, chronically ill, and with severe medical conditions are without homes.
The Department of Public Works and the Police Department are still harassing homeless people, confiscating their belongings, and forcing them to move along — when they have nowhere else to go.
San Francisco’s shelters are mass congregate settings, some with more than 300 people where the virus will spread rapidly.
Leave no one hungry: Provide food assistance to shelters, encampments, and quarantined units.
Prevent homelessness: Ban all evictions and suspend all rent.
In order to prevent homelessness, the City must ensure that all eviction proceedings are halted and that a rent suspension is implemented. The City should create a financial assistance fund to assist with back rental payment and other debt incurred during the crisis.
Create clear guidelines for homeless people from the Department of Public Health.
What does “stay home” mean to a homeless person? Unsheltered and sheltered homeless San Franciscans need clear, specific guidelines to follow and for those guidelines to be widely distributed.
Here are a couple of women, one from San Diego about the 2500 motel rooms for people without homes.
How many Americans are these and other pastors housing who need homes NOW?

70 people 0 homes put in a shelter in SF tested positive for virus, thx to MayorBreed.Trailers R coming to Monterey for those that have virus to be isolated. 1,000+ women will be put in shelters like football field centers where they can all GET SICK and die according to friends without homes, sick to my stomach. I had hoped I was wrong.. During the time I was in my car and got so little help, I felt so many people did not care if I died. There were also a lot of kindness from STRANGERS & friends who DID care but for the most part, people at churches, agencies, did not give a crap and apparently still do not care if 1,000+ women & I dont know how many men will get sick and die here in Monterey Peninsula. in CA, the blue state where our Gov. is supposed to be taking care of everyone. I know he has a lot on his plate & can't do everything. Mayors, city council members, church leaders & agencies all have blood on their hands for every single death that has occurred before this and now. A few months ago, 3 men died because they were turned away from the hospital ER. A few years ago a few men died, a warming shelter was approved and never went up. there has been a callous disregard for the lives of too many people without homes lives in Carmel, PG, Monterey, Seaside, Salinas, and Marina and other places in CA, LA, SF, San Jose, Sacramento and beyond.
