My History of Computers
I first became aware of computers watching the movie 2001 Space Odyssey. In the movie, a ginormous computer named HAL began acting strange. He kept making errors and the humans realized that they inadvertently created a technological monster. In the process of accurately processing data/information, he became unstable and malfunctioned.
Next, on my journey was watching Star Trek TV and movies. The crews computers were complex machines that seemed to do everything from fly the ships to create fake food and realistic fantasy illusions on the holo-deck.
Word Processing and Typesetting
During various jobs, I worked on word processors (also huge machines) and typesetting machines for newspapers in Florida and Germany. Typing on typewriters became obsolete when these machines automated the work.
In Germany, I worked on my first actual computer in 1988. I created graphs and charts utilizing various software programs. When I came back to the states to Los Angeles, I worked on a desktop computer and learned the software Word Perfect which was popular in the early 90’s.
The first computer I owned was an Apple classic. Subsequently, I had a Power PC, IMac, Ibook, MacBook Pro, and two MacBook Airs. Over the years, I learned various software and online programs including Adobe InDesign, Mail Chimp, MS Word, MyEmma, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Pagemaker, Pages, PowerPoint, Tumblr, Skype, Slack, Vimeo, Word Press and others that I learned on jobs during deadline pressure.
Social Media: have had various Twitter and Facebook accounts and Gmail, Yahoo and Juno email accounts. I have watched movies and TV shows on Hulu, Prime Video (Amazon) and Netflix.
